Celebrities Support Anu Ranjan’s #Bewithbeti Campaign

Anu Ranjan’s #BeWithBETI campaign saw a host of celebrities from the Television industry walk the ramp at The Westin Mumbai Garden City, on Sunday 13th January, in solidarity with the cause. Around 50 popular male & female stars of the television industry walked the ramp to help raise funds for BETI. In addition to the stars, 12 girl students, who excelled in academics & other extracurricular activities, also walked the ramp. Hair & make up for the stars was done by stylists from VLCC Healthcare Ltd.

Anu Ranjan informed, “It’s been 13 years that we launched BETI in 2006, primarily to highlight the cause of female foeticide, which has now taken the shape of an NGO. BETI has helped rehabilitate 3 acid attack victims, scores of sexual assault victims & also funds the education of over 300 girl students. We have been overwhelmed by the support from the TV & film fraternity, who have not only lent their time but also opened their purse strings for the victims. Prominent among them has been acid attack victim Sonali Mukherjee, whose appeal for euthanasia stirred the conscience of the nation. BETI helped raise 30 lakhs for her numerous face reconstruction surgeries. She is now happily married and gave birth to a healthy child two years back. For the last few years we have been funding the education of over 300 girl students from Swami Vivekanand School, Shakti Seva Sangh & Shree Mohan Moreshwar Bhoir Vidyalaya in Dahisar. ”

The celebrities walking the ramp for #BeWithBETI included Anushka Ranjan, Aishwarya Sakhuja, Cheshta Bhagat, Delnaz Irani, Hema Hariramani, Heena Panchal, Helly Shah, Garima Jain, Madhu Sneha, Mahima Makwana, Sheen Dass, Shipsy Rana, Shivya Pathania, Shubhi Ahuja, SwardaThigale, Priyanka  Bansode, Rakhi Sawant, Anu Thapa, Ruhi Chaturvedi, Hunar Gandhi, Maera Mishra, Aamir Dalvi, Adinath Kothare, Aditya Seal, Alok Narula, Akhil Chauhan, Ajaz Khan, Amar Upadhyay, Gaurav Gera, Gaurav Sharma, Harsh Vashisht, Harshit Joshi, Mohd Nazim, Mohit Lalwani, Nikhil Dyaberi, Randeep Rai, Rohit Roy, Sameer Soni, Sharad Kelkar, Sudhanshu Pandey, Vijendra Kumaria, Vikas Verma, Vishal Singh, Vikas Gupta & Zain Imam.

Mr. Sharad Datta, General Manager - The Westin Mumbai Garden City said, “It gives me immense pleasure on behalf of The Westin Mumbai Garden City, to collaborate with the Indian Television Academy and BETI. At Marriott International, one of our key social initiatives is the Serve360, where amongst our many aims is to ‘empower through opportunity’ and create a safe and welcoming world for all. Mrs. Vandana Luthra, Founder, VLCC Healthcare Ltd said, “I am honoured to be associated with the BETI movement, which is a remarkable and admirable initiative for helping and empowering women who have gone through unimaginable trauma. I firmly believe that women play a pivotal role in shaping the development of a society and Anu Ranjan’s commitment to such a cause is yet another evidence of that. Movements like BETI hold up a mirror to us to show that it is only possible to nurture the girl child at every stage of her journey when people from various fields and industries come together to build an ecosystem where it is safe and conducive for women to come at the forefront and make a mark for themselves. I am glad that this transformation is already taking shape, as we can see in the beauty and wellness industry which is driven primarily by women. I am sure this momentum will continue to grow in other
